For the last two years, I've taken a trip to Gatlinburg, TN during the month of July to get an update on the Tennessee law changes that are relevant for the upcoming school year. This year has been exceptionally different in that it's my second time attending and I have a framework to approach the material unlike last year. There have been a significant amount of laws that have changed since last meeting and its nice to not have to be an expert in law for interpreting what the law means.
The Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) does a great job presenting the upcoming and/or immediate changes in a manner that's easily understood.
An impartation of confidence and things school boards should be thinking about is an added value that helps us not be blindsided. I am very appreciative of this conference and always leave knowing that we have more work to do, but I'm up for the challenge and will continue to vote in favor of (1) How does this affect our students and (2) How does this affect/improve the lives of our teachers.
